As single parents we did it all. Getting the kids ready for school, preparing meals, cleaning, and working long hours. We were both in search of a partner supportive of family life, but had little time for dating. So we met the good ole fashion way-online! We lived an hour apart, but gave it a shot (pickings were slim!). Our first date was on January 31, 2020 in an empty restaurant. Tom arrived early and Millie late as usual. Over sips of water, to the waitress’ chagrin, conversation flowed. We learned of our mutual love of hiking, but the feelings seemed tepid. Tom laid bare all and Millie concluded she met a pal. Nonetheless the second date was set as hiking. Over several dates and calls, feelings blossomed and a relationship seemed like a growing possibility. Then the pandemic hit. Our relationship continued over phone and socially-distanced dates. The shutdown allowed us to decelerate and connect. Once the world began to open, we escaped to the wilderness on adventures and fell in love during trips to the Adirondack High Peaks. We love going off the grid with just our packs and connecting, while trekking through mud, rain and wind to awesome mountain views. We are excited to celebrate our blended family ceremony here with our children, family and close friends.
